The establishment of the Civil Appellate High Court of Vavuniya on 29 September 2011 was a major milestone in decentralizing Sri Lanka's judicial system and bringing the administration of justice closer to the public. Established under High Court of the Provinces (Special Provisions) (Amendment) Act No. 54 of 2006, the Court holds primary jurisdiction to hear appeals against judgments and orders issued by the District Courts located in the Vavuniya, Mannar, and Mullaitivu districts. Delivered by a bench comprising two High Court Judges, it serves as a backbone of the judicial framework in the Northern Province by expediting determinations and safeguarding litigants' rights.
