Powers & Jurisdiction

The Civil Appellate High Court of Vavuniya holds territorial and appellate jurisdiction to hear appeals and revision applications arising from judgments and orders delivered by District Courts within the Vavuniya, Mannar, and Mullaitivu districts.

Civil Appellate Jurisdiction

Appeals regarding property and land disputes (ownership, partition, evictions, testamentary matters), family law cases (divorces, child custody, maintenance), and commercial or contractual debt recovery actions.

Revisionary Jurisdiction

Revision applications and Leave to Appeal applications against interim and interlocutory orders delivered by subordinate District Courts.
